Rakanishu's Weapons Bane

1. the Sheath:

the sheath is obviously for protecting the sword. it has a handle built in for use as a rather large one sided mace.the back is made of solid oak, to reduce the weight of an otherwise all metal instrument of war, and still support the front side and protect the sword when not in use.

2. the Weapons Bane:

the Weapons Bane is a mix of western, japanese, and demonic influences. the odachi blade (5a) is reinforced by a steel pipe(5b) backing, which mechanically amplifies attacks and increases stability with its weight shift mechanism. stabbing effectiveness is reduced in exchange for dramatically increasing slashing and chopping action, and increased stability. Running perpendicular to the pipe at regularly spaced intervals are solid steel plates (5c), which serve to increase the weight of the weapon and allow the feature of weapon breaking. influenced by european "weapon breaker" daggers, the plates catch sword blades between themselves and, with a simple twist of the Weapons bane, can easilly snap an opposing blade with ease. the pipe reinforces the odachi blade to prevent warping damage that may occur from the stress of the twisting action.the handle is more ornately decorated for both arcane, and viewing purposes. near the Tsuba, 3 topaz gems are inserted into the handle to emphasize the weapons "earth" nature, for its vast Strength and Stability.

3. Weapons Bane Tsuba:

self Explanatory... designed for terror purposes, and serves both as a protective, and offensive feature.

4a. the weights stored in the pipe backing of the sword. these weights are automatically returned here by a spring. they are loaded in a ball and socket arrrangement for maximum weight distribution in a minimal area, and flexible enough to not be caught in the slightly curved pipe, which would almost be guaranteed to catch a single solid weight.

4b. the Spring chamber. this is also where extra weights are loaded into the pipe chamber. once sufficient weights are loaded and tied together, they are attached to the spring, which is attached to a loop at the base of the chamber.

4c. the pipe which holds all the weights.

**the key function of this sword is to provide the maximum power to the user without the drawbacks of a simple solid heavy weapon. the spring that holds the weights together will always keep the weights at the base of the blade, allowing the weights to stay centered and increase mobility of the blade for blocking and parrying. when the wielder goes on the offensive, the momentum of a swung blade exceeds the pull of the spring, which causes the weights to shift to the far end of the pipe. when the swing is finished, the spring draws the weights back to the handle to allow for a quick recovery. this weight shift maximizes power by increasing the momentum and, thus, forces the blade farther than the blade would normally go without the weight shift. the pipe and plates on the back widen and further damage the insides of a person, and the extra force of the weights causes the plates on the back to further tear the body apart. It is recommended to only attempt chopping one body at a time, due to the risk of catching the blade in a body afterwards. the design makes one body cleaving fairly easy, but removing the blade from a body is difficult. on average though, users strong enough to properly wield this blade have been known to commonly cleave 3 or 4 bodies on average with ease and fairly high success rates.**

Rakanishu, the Creator of the Weapons Bane, was once Hells most prominent Weapons Smith before his defection against Lucifers reign. He took with him all the secrets of Hells weapon crafting, and design. after his defection, he was pushed out of hell, and onto Earth. Circumstances rose which would force him to seal himself within one of the most powerful artifacts in the universe to evade death.

Long ago, Rakanishu (and the scythe he was sealed in) was claimed by the Nameless One. this union would trigger the begining of humanities recovery and retaliatory advances towards hell. during the begining of this historical change, The Nameless one and Rakanishu traveled the world eliminating key Demonic presences and loosening hell's foothold on Earth. along their travels, Rakanishu was exposed to many different human crafts in weapons crafting. after successfully cleansing much of the north eastern hemisphere of the most dangerous hellspawns, Rakanishu convinced the Nameless one to allow him to craft a new weapon to apply all that he had learned since his sealing. after acquiring vast stores of japans Iron sands, Nameless allowed Rakanishu control of his body and they set to work. three months later, Rakanishu withdrew back into his scythe, finished. when the Nameless One woke. he beheld the Weapons Bane. as was Rakanishu's wish, 6 days later, the most powerful of Rakanishu's acquired souls was sealed in the sword. the Ruler of the Northern Realms of Hell, King Belial.

The "Diamond-Like" soul stone Crystal, located between the center Topaz and Onyx gems at the top of the handle, contains all of Belials demonic energies. below the bindings of the handle is Rakanishu's Demonic Seal, which brandishes his profile. below the seal is King Belial's likeness, a grim totemnic skull, sealed with a jade wrapped Emerald, engraved with the demonic Sigil of Belial. Belials Claw is tied to the end, and all together, are bound by magic to contain the demons vast destructive powers. Users of the blade may, if they wish, allow an opening in the seal to release a portion of Belials Power... at their own risk.

it has been a decade since the sword was made, and 2 years since it was last seen. during the 8 years it was tracked, it changed hands many times, as stronger and stronger fighters fought for the right to own the great blade. rumors tell that over ten thousand blades have been destroyed by the Weapons Bane, and many more people cleaved by it. The wielder is rumored to be slightly augmented when they draw the sword, becoming more heavy footed, stronger, and defensive. it is believed that King Belial also lends his skills of lies, guilt and deception to the user... at a cost. Earth Elementals may occasionally rise in the wake of the warrior if his control of Belial wavers.
